GOVERNMENT MEASURES FOR PENSIONERS

Early day motion 325, tabled 12 February 2001 by David Winnick (Labour). Signed by 98 members.

That this House takes note of the popularity of the winter fuel allowance for pensioners and the free television licence for the 75s and over; further notes the number of occasions that the Conservative front bench has denounced these popular measures as gimmicks; and recalls that prior to the present Government coming into office no such assistance was given to pensioners.

Signatures by party: Labour 90, Labour/Co-operative 7, Liberal Democrat 1.
