FUEL POVERTY
Early day motion 136, tabled 2 December 1999 by Lord Chidgey (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 21 members.
That this House is appalled by recent claims that some eight million people in the UK live in such fuel poverty that their physical and mental health has significantly deteriorated, to the extent that up to 60,000 people in the UK die each year because they cannot heat their homes properly; and welcomes the 'Warm Homes Tour' and calls for the implementation of the recommendations set out in the Environmental Audit Committee's report, 'Energy Efficiency' as a matter of priority.
Signatures by party: Labour 12, Liberal Democrat 4, Labour/Co-operative 3, Conservative 1, Social Democratic and Labour Party 1.
