HOUSE OF COMMONS MASH

Early day motion 108, tabled 29 November 1999 by Tom Brake (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 8 members.

That this House congratulates the Refreshment Department on consistently providing a quality range of meals and snacks and an efficient, friendly service; notes the importance to health of a balanced diet; further notes the link between high fat content foods and heart disease; is concerned that, for the same price, two ice-cream scoops of mashed potato is far less tempting than a massive portion of chips; and calls on the catering department to introduce equality of treatment for both mash and chips lovers in order to encourage a healthy diet amongst those who regularly use the catering facilities.

Signatures by party: Labour 7, Liberal Democrat 1.
