ASSISTANCE BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES TO CARE LEAVERS UP TO THE AGE OF 21

Early day motion 335, tabled 1 February 2000 by Hilton Dawson (Labour). Signed by 60 members.

That this House congratulates the Government on its commitment to improving services for young people leaving care; supports the view of the Health Committee that the duty of local authorities should extend to young people up to and including the age of 21; and urges the Government to heed the recent statement of Sir William Utting that 'deferring this to an unforseen future would be a further injustice to a generation of young people who have been failed in the past'.
