DYFED & POWYS, GWENT AND SOUTH WALES CONSTABULARIES

Early day motion 283, tabled 17 January 2000 by Jon Owen Jones (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 17 members.

That this House congratulates Dyfed and Powys, Gwent and South Wales constabularies, which by collaboration made a number of arrests in the second week of January including an alleged persistent young offender, following the use of new technology currently under trial developed by 2B Research and BT; recognises that the arrests took place within a short period of time due in the main to the use of PNIP, retrieving information from neighbouring forces; and calls upon the Home Secretary to consider a national application of this system.

Signatures by party: Labour 13, Liberal Democrat 2, Labour/Co-operative 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
