SCOTTISH AGRICULTURE AND THE NFU'S PETITION FOR ACTION

Early day motion 237, tabled 10 January 2000 by Robert Smith (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 12 members.

That this House notes with extreme concern the continuing crisis faced by Scottish agriculture, caused by factors including the strength of the pound, lack of a level regulatory playing field within Europe and falling farm incomes; welcomes the Petition for Action organised by the National Farmers' Union of Scotland; and calls on the Government to recognise the need for further assistance for Scotland's farmers and growers.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 9, Scottish National Party 2, Plaid Cymru 1.
