ACT OF SETTLEMENT
Early day motion 224, tabled 20 December 1999 by Jeremy Corbyn (Labour). Signed by 45 members.
That this House believes the Act of Settlement 1701, under which the monarch may be and may wed a person of any religion other than Roman Catholicism, is anachronistic and offensive; and joins the Scottish Parliament in calling for the Act's repeal.
Signatures by party: Labour 34, Liberal Democrat 6, Labour/Co-operative 2, Plaid Cymru 2, Scottish National Party 1.
