LEYLAND TRUCKS

Early day motion 207, tabled 15 December 1999 by Lindsay Hoyle (Labour). Signed by 48 members.

That this House welcomes the announcement of expansion in both employment and production at Leyland Trucks and believes that, combined with Foden, the company can become a global leader; but is concerned over the decision to drop the Leyland name and use DAF instead, a company that took over Leyland Trucks in 1987, asset-stripped the company, and then went into receivership; and wishes to see the Leyland name, which is renowned throughout the world, maintained as the company expands.

Signatures by party: Labour 45, Liberal Democrat 2, Labour/Co-operative 1.
