DEIR YASSIN

Early day motion 166, tabled 8 December 1999 by Jeremy Corbyn (Labour). Signed by 29 members.

That this House remembers the 1948 massacre at the Palestinian village of Deir Yassin; acknowledges the great significance of this tragic event for Palestinians since it marked the beginning of the depopulation of over 400 Arab villages and cities and the expulsion of over 700,000 Palestinians; and therefore calls on Her Majesty's Government to make representations to the Israeli Government, to permit, as a gracious act of reconciliation and mutual recognition, the building of a memorial at the site of the massacre.

Signatures by party: Labour 24, Conservative 2, Labour/Co-operative 1, Liberal Democrat 1, Plaid Cymru 1.
