ELIAN GONZALEZ

That this House believes that, both morally and legally, Elian Gonzalez, aged six years, should be returned to his father and grandparents in Cuba; recognises that the USA would have returned Elian to his family and country of origin had that country been anywhere other than Cuba; believes that the treatment of a child as a political pawn is flagrantly in breach of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to demand the immediate return of Elian to his family in Cuba, as recommended by the American Immigration and Naturalisation Service.
