PROGRESS ON ARMS CONTROL AND INTERNATIONAL STABILITY

Early day motion 578, tabled 30 March 2000 by John McWilliam (Labour). Signed by 37 members.

That this House, recalling the NATO strategy of April 1999, considers the use of nuclear weapons to be an extremely remote possibility; and believes that the reduction and elimination of any threat is a far better strategy than investing in the doubtful effectiveness of missile defences, which would, by their nature, undermine progress on arms control and international stability.
