ADMISSION OF MIKE TYSON

Early day motion 757, tabled 18 May 2000 by Lord Bruce of Bennachie (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 31 members.

That this House regrets the Home Secretary's decision to admit Mike Tyson for a second fight to be staged in Glasgow in spite of the overwhelming opposition of Scottish public opinion; regrets the Home Secretary's explanation that substantial revenue lost to the UK economy is a reason for this decision, putting profit over principle; and insists that this decision must be accompanied by a condemnation of crimes of violence, particularly against women.
