ABATTOIR CLOSURE AT EARDISLEY

Early day motion 689, tabled 4 May 2000 by Christopher Gill (Conservative). Signed by 20 members.

That this House welcomes the decision of the Meat Hygiene Service to hold an independent investigation into the circumstances leading to the closure of the Mead Webber abattoir at Eardisley in Herefordshire; and believes that a tribunal affording the opportunity to cross-examine witnesses will be the most effective method of ensuring that the investigation is genuinely open and transparent.
