2001 CENSUS IN WALES
Early day motion 1072, tabled 23 October 2000 by Simon Thomas (Plaid Cymru). Signed by 11 members.
That this House recognises the importance of accurate and full responses to the 2001 census; welcomes the fact that United Kingdom citizens can choose from a wide range of nationalities and ethnic origins, including Scottish in Scotland and Irish throughout the United Kingdom; and therefore deplores strongly the refusal of the Office for National Statistics to accede to the opinion of people in Wales and include a Welsh tick box on the forms to be used in Wales.
Signatures by party: Labour 5, Plaid Cymru 3, Liberal Democrat 2, Scottish National Party 1.
