BSKYB AND MARKET DOMINANCE

Early day motion 1046, tabled 26 July 2000 by Linda Gilroy (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 26 members.

That this House welcomes the Office of Fair Trading's current inquiry into BSkyB's position in the Pay TV market; expresses concern that BSkyB is able to abuse its market dominance to the detriment of consumer choice and competition; and calls on the regulatory authorities to ensure that BSkyB is regulated effectively and that its broadcast and distribution businesses operate at genuine arm's length through accounting or structural separation.
