TYPE 45 DESTROYERS

Early day motion 953, tabled 11 July 2000 by Ian Davidson (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 43 members.

That this House warmly welcomes the news that the Ministry of Defence has approved the procurement of Type 45 destroyers, two to be built in Glasgow by BAe and one by Vosper Thorneycroft; and notes that this is excellent news for the workforces, and in the case of Glasgow will provide much-needed security of work while they await the outcome of the Ro-Ro contract.

Signatures by party: Labour 35, Liberal Democrat 4, Labour/Co-operative 2, Scottish National Party 2.
