PROPOSED SALE OF YORKSHIRE WATER

Early day motion 944, tabled 10 July 2000 by Hilary Benn (Labour). Signed by 46 members.

That this House believes that the proposal by the Kelda Group to sell Yorkshire Water for a reported ú2.4 billion to a registered community asset mutual raises fundamental questions about the future ownership of water services; believes that customers and others need time fully to consider the implications of this proposal; and therefore calls on OFWAT to extend the deadline for public consultation.
