TAX HARMONIZATION

Early day motion 173, tabled 13 January 1999 by Patrick Nicholls (Conservative). Signed by 22 members.

That this House condemns plans to scrap Britain's right to veto tax and budget changes in Europe; further deplores German plans to harmonise European taxes, so that Britain loses the rebate won by Baroness Thatcher; and calls on the Prime Minister, the Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Foreign and Commonwealth Secretary to bury their differences and start fighting for Britain instead.
