INLAND REVENUE AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Early day motion 164, tabled 12 January 1999 by Tom Brake (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 43 members.

That this House welcomes the Government's commitment to taxing non-residential car parking spaces; regrets that any public transport subsidy paid for by an individual's employer is seen as a 'taxable benefit in kind'; and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to review this policy urgently to encourage the use of public transport.
