ABOLITION OF QCs
Early day motion 96, tabled 8 December 1998 by Andrew Dismore (Labour). Signed by 101 members.
That this House welcomes the White Paper, Modernising Justice and the Access to Justice Bill as the first real comprehensive plan to modernise the justice system for a century; and expresses the hope that the opportunity will also be taken to abolish the expensive and anachronistic distinction of Queen's Counsel, which has no place in a 21st century legal system.
Signatures by party: Labour 91, Labour/Co-operative 8, Liberal Democrat 1, Unknown 1.
