ONE MAN AND HIS DOG

Early day motion 345, tabled 22 February 1999 by Peter Bradley (Labour). Signed by 71 members.

That this House expresses its dismay at the BBC's high-handed and insensitive decision to axe the much-loved One Man and His Dog programme which, before its rescheduling enjoyed viewing figures of up to eight million per episode; recognises that the programme has provided a great deal of pleasure and enjoyment to viewers from both town and country for over 23 years and believes that this is no way to treat a loyal and faithful friend; regrets that the BBC is once again abandoning its duty to minority interests in pursuit of mass markets; and calls on the schedulers to review their decision.

Signatures by party: Labour 46, Liberal Democrat 12, Conservative 6, Labour/Co-operative 2, Plaid Cymru 2, UUP 2, Scottish National Party 1.
