GLENN HODDLE

Early day motion 257, tabled 1 February 1999 by Mark Oaten (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 20 members.

That this House condemns the recent offensive comments by Glenn Hoddle, the England Football Manager, regarding disabled people; is encouraged by the widespread public condemnation of these comments, which shows that his views are clearly out of date; believes that under the circumstances the manager's resignation would be welcomed; and calls upon the Government to continue its steps to raise the profile of disabled people and ensure equality.

Signatures by party: Labour 8, Liberal Democrat 8, UUP 3, Conservative 1.
