CYPRUS DEMILITARISATION
Early day motion 221, tabled 20 January 1999 by Edward O'Hara (Labour). Signed by 36 members.
That this House, noting the decision of the Government of Cyprus not to install the S300 missiles in Cyprus, calls upon the government of Turkey to respond positively by entering into a process of negotiation for the scaling down of armaments, as provided in UN Security Council Resolution 1218, thus reducing intercommunal tension and creating the conditions for a peaceful solution to the Cyprus problem.
Signatures by party: Labour 30, Liberal Democrat 3, Labour/Co-operative 2, Conservative 1.
