SEATS IN PASSENGER TRAINS
Early day motion 204, tabled 19 January 1999 by Harry Barnes (Labour). Signed by 47 members.
That this House notes that train operating companies are commissioning new trains with smaller, more cramped passenger seats or are putting extra seats in current carriages to maximise their profits, although the average height and weight of passengers is increasing; and believes that decreasing levels of passenger comfort undermine efforts to make public transport more attractive.
