LOCAL EXCHANGE TRADING SCHEMES (LETS) AND SOCIAL INCLUSION

Early day motion 639, tabled 12 May 1999 by Linda Gilroy (Labour/Co-operative). Signed by 93 members.

That this House notes that the first reports of the Social Exclusion Unit will be published in the summer; welcomes the Government's determination to address the needs of those who find themselves excluded from everyday activities that many people take for granted; recognises the important contribution of local exchange trading schemes in aiding economic and social inclusion through co-operation and self help; and calls upon the Government to ensure that this worthwhile enterprise is properly considered in the recommendations of the Social Exclusion Unit.
