CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR NEWBURY

Early day motion 614, tabled 5 May 1999 by Lord Deben (Conservative). Signed by 13 members.

That this House deplores the attempt of the honourable Member for Newbury to avoid comment on the proposal to build the Vodafone HQ on a greenfield site in Newbury, by telling his constituents erroneously that there is a parliamentary convention that honourable Members never comment on planning matters in their constituency; and further notes that this is only one more example of Liberal Democrats seeking to back both sides in any argument.
