FOREIGN DONATIONS TO THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY

Early day motion 534, tabled 14 April 1999 by Nick Harvey (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 28 members.

That this House deplores the acceptance by the Conservative Party of donations of ú18,000 from a London-based front company for the Milosevic regime which remains on a US blacklist because of its close financial ties with Serbia; and, in view of the Conservative Party's belated acceptance of the need to refuse foreign donations, calls on the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition to make a consequent donation of ú18,000 to a suitable charity to help the Kosovo Albanians who are now suffering at the hands of the Serbian armed forces.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 17, Labour 11.
