ANWAR IBRAHIM

That this House is deeply concerned at the charges laid against Anwar Ibrahim, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, his treatment in prison and the use of the Internal Security Act to continue this detention of an elected member of parliament; is further concerned at reports received concerning the conduct of his trial and the systematic harassment of his supporters; and calls upon the Inter-Parliamentary Union to examine the charges and trial and, if appropriate, call for a new trial.
