LOCAL LOOP CHARGE

Early day motion 467, tabled 23 March 1999 by Derek Wyatt (Labour). Signed by 9 members.

That this House notes that the key to the delivery of Internet access is the local loop charge currently monopolised by BT; calls upon Oftel to recommend that this service be opened up to market conditions; and recommends that the Government lays down a public service remit that requires any new licensee to provide ten hours a week free service per line for schools and libraries.

Signatures by party: Labour 4, Liberal Democrat 4, Labour/Co-operative 1.
