THE GOVERNMENT AND THE LOBBYING INDUSTRY

Early day motion 466, tabled 23 March 1999 by John Bercow (Conservative). Signed by 4 members.

That this House notes with concern reports in the Independent that the lobbying industry has seen a 35 per cent. increase in client numbers and a 26 per cent. increase in staff numbers since the general election; calls on the Government to make available a full list of all ministers' meetings with lobbying firms since May 1997 and a list of personnel who worked for ministers of the current Government in the last four years who now work in lobbying companies; and calls on the Government to crack down on cronyism and restore openness in Government.
