SALE OF THE TOTE

Early day motion 680, tabled 24 May 1999 by Laurence Robertson (Conservative). Signed by 8 members.

That this House notes that paragraph 5 of the Report of the Steering Group on the Tote Review states that the Government has not financed the Tote and does not stand behind it as a financial guarantor; in view of this, feels that the taxpayer is not due a financial return from any sale of the Tote; calls upon the Government to recognise this fact when changing the status of the Tote; and therefore urges the Government to transfer the ownership of the Tote to a racing body free of charge.

Signatures by party: Conservative 7, UUP 1.
