NATIONAL RADIO STATION FOR CHILDREN

Early day motion 129, tabled 17 June 1997 by Jamie Cann (Labour). Signed by 43 members.

That this House welcomes Children 2000's bid to establish Britain's, and the world's first national radio station for children on the newly available 225kHz long-wave frequency; considers such a station would be an invaluable contribution to children's education and development as acknowledged by the SCAA, the NSPCC, UNICEF and others; and urges the Radio Authority and the Government to explore this opportunity fully before awarding the vacant 225 kHz band.

Signatures by party: Labour 29, Liberal Democrat 9, Conservative 2, Labour/Co-operative 2, Unknown 1.
