2004 OLYMPICS IN ATHENS

Early day motion 33, tabled 20 May 1997 by Edward O'Hara (Labour). Signed by 18 members.

That this House supports the return of the Olympic Games in 2004 to the birthplace of the Games in Greece; believes that holding the Games in Athens will enable the International Olympic Committee to plan for a return to the original ideals of the Olympic movement, combining the spirit of competition, excellence and good organisation without excessive commercialisation; and calls upon Her Majesty's Ministers to support the Athens bid.

Signatures by party: Labour 15, Liberal Democrat 2, Labour/Co-operative 1.
