DEMOCRATIC DEFICIT IN WALES

Early day motion 12, tabled 14 May 1997 by Paul Flynn (Labour). Signed by 14 members.

That this House deplores the democratic deficit in Wales in which the Conservative Party, which gained 20 per cent. of the General Election vote, has no honourable Members or Members of the European Parliament; and calls on Welsh Conservatives to re-examine their opposition to proportional representation and devolution as the only remedies to their exclusion from Welsh politics.

Signatures by party: Labour 9, Plaid Cymru 3, Liberal Democrat 2.
