JUDGE NICHOLAS PHILPOT

Early day motion 967, tabled 2 November 1999 by Harry Cohen (Labour). Signed by 35 members.

That this House deplores the action of Judge Nicholas Philpot in dismissing a theft and false accounting case because he declared that the main witness should not give evidence because he considered her breast feeding her 13 week old child would cause too much disruption; calls upon the Lord Chancellor to reprimand this judge; and to issue a directive that all courts be breast feeding-friendly places.

Signatures by party: Labour 33, Liberal Democrat 2.
