CITY OF HEREFORD LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Early day motion 404, tabled 6 November 1997 by Paul Keetch (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 13 members.

That this House welcomes the establishment of the new unitary authority for the ancient County of Herefordshire; notes with concern that after 1st April 1998, whilst all the market towns of Herefordshire will retain their town councils, the city of Hereford will be without a local council; supports therefore the establishment of chartered trustees for the city as an interim measure; but calls for the eventual parishing of the city of Hereford, so leading to a town council.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 10, Labour 2, Conservative 1.
