AIR UK AND DISABLED PASSENGERS

Early day motion 324, tabled 30 July 1997 by Anne Begg (Labour). Signed by 38 members.

That this House condemns the treatment of disabled passengers by Air UK, in which they require that passengers complete a medical declaration which uses phrases such as 'patient' and asks whether disabled passengers are 'in any way offensive to other passengers - smell, appearance, conduct' and about their 'fitness for carriage'; believes that these practices are discriminatory and insulting; and calls on Air UK to be more sensitive in their dealings with disabled passengers and to stop using such a medical form forthwith.

Signatures by party: Labour 32, Liberal Democrat 5, UUP 1.
