CENTENARY OF THE BIRTH OF ANEURIN BEVAN

Early day motion 455, tabled 13 November 1997 by Lord Soley (Labour). Signed by 67 members.

That this House notes the centenary of the birth of Aneurin Bevan on 15 November 1897; commemorates the life and work of this remarkable Welshman, Labour Member of the House and reforming Cabinet Minister in the post-war Labour Government; and believes that the values on which Bevan campaigned are still valid today and that the National Health Service, which he founded, stands as a lasting and living memorial to the life and work of a very great man.
