SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT OF HILLINGDON BOROUGH COUNCIL

Early day motion 777A1, tabled 19 February 1998 by John McDonnell (Labour). Signed by 1 member.

leave out from 'of' to end and insert 'the London Borough of Hillingdon over a period in which it was controlled first by a Conservative administration and subsequently by a Labour administration, which is highly critical of the failure of the senior management of the Department during this time to ensure the implementation of child protection regulations; and, whilst welcoming the immediate programme of action taken by the London Borough of Hillingdon to tackle this issue, agrees with the strong view expressed by the inspector, Sir Herbert Laming, that the report's findings should not be used for party political purposes.'.
