SCOTTISH CONCESSIONARY TRAVEL SCHEME FOR THE BLIND AND ALLIED COMPANION CARD SCHEME

Early day motion 811, tabled 18 February 1998 by John McAllion (Labour). Signed by 46 members.

That this House notes that there are 32 separate travel concession schemes currently in operation throughout Scotland; further notes that blind people travel free in all but two; regrets that the schemes are not co-ordinated and inter-changeable; accepts that the 30,000 registered blind people in Scotland are disadvantaged by the restrictions and confusions of 32 different schemes; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to establish an integrated and comprehensive scheme of concessionary travel and allied companion card scheme for blind and visually-impaired people within Scotland.
