PEDLARS

Early day motion 715, tabled 2 February 1998 by Peter Brand (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 11 members.

That this House notes with concern that a report on the review of the Pedlars Act 1871 for which consultation letters were sent out on 1st July 1994 is yet to be published; calls on the Government to publish the report and to bring the law governing pedlars into line with that governing street traders who are covered by the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 in order that locally licensed street traders are not forced unfairly into competition with sharp operators peddling with a licence from the police which may have been issued many miles away.

Signatures by party: Labour 6, Liberal Democrat 4, Conservative 1.
