COSLA AND SINGLE PARENT BENEFITS

Early day motion 702, tabled 27 January 1998 by Andrew Welsh (Scottish National Party). Signed by 24 members.

That this House welcomes the passing of a motion by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities which called on the Government to abandon plans to reduce single parent benefits; expresses concern at the potentially damaging effects of the Benefits Integrity Project that will inevitably lead to greater social exclusion; and deprecates any attempt to control the PSBR by marginalising the most vulnerable members of society.
