CONDUCT OF PRESTON LABOUR GROUP

Early day motion 1132, tabled 24 March 1998 by Paul Burstow (Liberal Democrat). Signed by 2 members.

That this House notes the third resignation this year from the ruling Labour Group on Preston Borough Council; notes the current investigations into mismanagement; further notes the section 15 report issued by the District Auditor in 1996, which found clear evidence of mismanagement that had already resulted in a series of convictions of council officers; and calls upon the Government to act upon the recommendations of Lord Nolan by addressing the failure of the Labour leadership on Preston Council to establish an open, accountable and independent scrutiny of their stewardship of the Council.

Signatures by party: Liberal Democrat 2.
