CONDUCT OF THE HONOURABLE MEMBER FOR CHELTENHAM AND THE DATA PROTECTION BILL [LORDS]

Early day motion 1406, tabled 9 June 1998 by Robert Syms (Conservative). Signed by 9 members.

That this House notes with concern that the honourable Member for Cheltenham failed to attend any of the sittings of Standing Committee D which met on 12 occasions between Tuesday 5th May and Thursday 4th June to consider the Data Protection Bill [Lords]; believes that such neglect of Parliamentary duty exposes the sham of the Liberal Democrats claim to be a party of responsible opposition; and calls upon the Committee of Selection to have regard to such non-attendance when allocating such valuable places on Committees of the House in future.
