SOS DEMOCRACY CAMPAIGN

Early day motion 1300, tabled 11 May 1998 by Lord Trimble (UUP). Signed by 8 members.

That this House regrets that the Amsterdam Treaty provides for the further transfer of the powers of democratically elected national parliaments to EU bureaucrats at a time when people throughout Europe are demanding more open government; and commends the 36 MEPs of different national backgrounds who have put forward the SOS Democracy Campaign document which advocates a more democratic and open approach to European co-operation.

Signatures by party: UUP 6, Conservative 2.
