EQUITABLE CARE FOR WOMEN WITH OVARIAN CANCER
Early day motion 1292, tabled 7 May 1998 by Ann Keen (Labour). Signed by 113 members.
That this House welcomes the government's commitment to provide better standards of cancer care, illustrated through such initiatives as the allocation of additional resources for breast cancer services; notes with concern existing inequalities in the provision of, and access to, cancer services throughout the country with the emergence of post-code prescribing in newly-developed treatments; notes that, in the instance of ovarian cancer, there is indisputable evidence on the best and most appropriate treatment and that this treatment has an important effect on long-term survival; notes that this evidence has informed a National Consensus Statement from the United Kingdom's ovarian cancer specialists which makes definitive treatment recommendations for ovarian cancer; and calls on the government to review urgently the latest evidence on the treatment of ovarian cancer to ensure that the best treatment is available to women in all areas of the United Kingdom.
