MAFF CONSUMER HELPLINE
Early day motion 1279, tabled 30 April 1998 by Judy Mallaber (Labour). Signed by 61 members.
That this House congratulates the staff operating the MAFF Consumer Helpline who were found on a blind test by the magazine Call Centre Europe to be 'very switched on, cheery' and able to offer 'an abundance of information - which is exactly what a help line should be capable of doing'; notes that the climate of secrecy fostered by the previous government is now over; and believes that the level of consumer information and advice available to the public will be further enhanced by the creation of the Food Standards Agency.
