That this House pays tribute to the Royal Ulster Constabulary, which contains some of Britain's bravest police officers who have for 30 years defended the United Kingdom from the evils of terrorism; notes their dedication to duty, their impressive successes against terrorism and their ethos, shared with all other British police forces, of service to all sections of the community free of fear or favour; further notes that since 1969, 301 RUC officers have been murdered by terrorist activity and 8,563 injured and pays tribute to them and their families for the sacrifices they have made in the defence of freedom and the rule of law; and believes that the Royal Ulster Constabulary is serving very well all the people of Northern Ireland and the rest of the United Kingdom and that the morale, efficiency, effectiveness and dedication of this noble police force should not be sacrifaced nor used as a negotiating tool in a political deal.
