HERTFORDSHIRE AND THE AREA COST ADJUSTMENT

Early day motion 1674, tabled 21 October 1998 by Lord Lilley (Conservative). Signed by 6 members.

That this House notes the serious consequences for local government in Hertfordshire which would follow from the abolition of or a reduction in the area cost adjustment; in particular notes the severe pressure this would place on school budgets leading to the loss of teaching posts and a diminution in the quality of education provided for Hertfordshire school children; and urges the Government to take into account the higher cost of providing services for Hertfordshire residents.
