POSTAL VOTES FOR PENSIONERS

Early day motion 1649, tabled 2 September 1998 by David Crausby (Labour). Signed by 110 members.

That this House welcomes the modernising agenda put forward by the Government regarding local government and improving local democracy; recognises the need to make it easier for people to vote through new ideas; urges the Government to introduce the right to a postal vote for every pensioner who requests one on reaching retirement age; and suggests that this could be achieved more effectively with an application form attached to every pension allowance book.
